Storage Hunters goes French
French broadcaster D8 is preparing a local version of hit US reality series Storage Hunters.
The Canal+ Group-owned channel has ordered eight episodes of the format from US-based T Group, which originally produced the series for cablenet TruTV.
French indie Ah! Productions will make the show, to be known locally as Box Aux Encheres.
Like the US original and UK version, Box Aux Encheres will feature characters bidding for contents of abandoned storage lockers. It will launch later this month.
T Group president Jenny Daly told C21: ”We are very happy that Storage Hunters has had such success above and beyond the US.
“The finished shows are selling globally and France being the latest to take the format and make originals is the best outcome a producer could look to achieve with an original concept.”
The UK Storage Hunters is currently being readied by NorthOne for a sixth season on UKTV’s Dave channel.
T Group holds format and finished tape distribution rights to the US finished series and the UK version. The company recently premiered crime format 24 to Life on A+E Networks cablenet LMN.
